CREATIVE PHILOSOPHY
What makes a film good?
What makes us different?
How will we tell your story?

Film is subjective, but the audience response isn’t random. You might not know about f-stops or negative fill, but you know quality when you see it.
I believe that sense of quality is a measure of clarity and intent. What is the film communicating, how well is it being said, and does every choice support the same outcome? People come to the screen for a change in state. An escape from the routine. The job is to engineer that shift through controlled image, sound, and structure.
My philosophy is to treat attention as the most valuable resource in the process. To reward it by building sequences where each moment advances the viewer’s mental and emotional trajectory.

That's how I approach every project, by taking every opportunity to add layers of cognitive-emotional potency and meticulously removing any frame that doesn't serve the narrative. At the end of the day, every viewer is bargaining with their time, and I aim to pay the highest dividends on their investment.

My Story

It had to start somewhere
The son of a news reporter and the owner of a VFX studio, I grew up surrounded by the cameras, the attitude, and the lifestyle. My parents would joke that I was a filmmaker before I was a person, as even my time in the womb was spent on set.

At six years old, I was cast in a candy commercial and got an early lesson in what “production” really means. Take after take. Long hours. Zero shortcuts.
.
It was tedious, but it built a new kind of discipline. The experience stuck with me, and I walked off set knowing this was the path I wanted to pursue.

Soon I commandeered my father’s camera and Premiere Pro and got to work pressing buttons until something clicked. My toys now my cast, I was writing, directing, and voicing my own films. I learned to first crawl, walk, and then make films at my father’s production company. The perfect environment to nurture my curiosity.
Turning Pro
By the time I entered film school, I already had years of real-world experience behind the camera and in post. School became the place where I pressure-tested that foundation, filled in the gaps, and took my craft to the next level through constant practice, critique, and higher standards.
Just as important, I found a community that pushed me forward. I learned to lead without ego, communicate clearly, and show up for the team. The professional and social embrace from my professors and peers was very validating and told me I was on the right path.
THE PERFECTLY TIMED
PANDEMIC
Unlike a competent storyteller, life does not need proper setup for it's plot twists.
I graduated film school in winter of 2019, right on cue for the Covid pandemic that shut down my industry 2 months later. Just as I was ready to put a lifetime of training to work, I found myself at square one. I was once again creating alone in my room, just as it all began.

The plot writes itself
I started recording and editing gaming clips for the internet. I posted them for practice, but was quickly flooded with engagement.

Soon I had an active audience and was entertaining thousands of people from my bedroom daily. Through this experience I learned about social media management, and built the foundational knowledge of how to run an online brand.

Social Media Marketing
Algorithms
Channel Management
Brand Consistency
The experience turned into a real education in online distribution and built the foundation for the marketing practices the company uses today.

I secured well paying remote work as a translator during lockdowns, and when the world started back up again, I had a chance to do something I always wanted to do.
From 2022 to 2024, I left New York with a friend and worked remotely while traveling across America, picking where to go based on where my favorite bands were performing live.
The Return Home
By the end of 2024, I got a call from a film school friend who was in pre-production on a short film and asked me to be his Cinematographer, the same role I held back when we were classmates. That call felt like cinema tapping me on the shoulder again, and I knew it was time to pack up and head home.

The film itself was an authentic short set around remote Viking settlements, and the conditions matched the subject matter. Shivering in the rain, deep in the muddy woods of Roscoe, New York, I reignited the passion and formulated the values on which I built my company.

Every story needs a payoff

Fresh from my travels and my biggest project to date, I knew it was time. I had to put a name to the craft and go from artist to businessman. I started Zakaryan Media Company in 2025. Named after my grandfather, renowned Soviet play writer and attorney Mikheil Zakaryan.
During my career as a filmmaker and online personality, I developed the ideal network of professionals that my clients would need; fellow filmmakers, online marketing specialists, audio experts, and so many others. I knew whatever the needs, the solutions were there.
